AIH : Week 1

Sat, 06/13/2009 - 15:40 — darthclue

Providing instruction to three children with special needs when you've got no idea what they actually know and are capable of is interesting to say the least.

Here's what we've done so far this week and what we've found out in the process.

  • Alphabet : They all know it but not like they should.  Work needs to be done in this area.
  • Numbers : They know everything from zero to one hundred.  Work needs to done on writing out the numbers.
  • Colors : They can recognize the colors red, orange, green, brown, black, blue, white, yellow and purple.  Work is needed in spelling the colors.
  • Handwriting (Print and Cursive) : Work is needed in both areas.  Cursive is cleaner than print so that is where we are focusing.
  • Storytelling : Gave them four words and asked them to write a story.  The youngest did the best job here while the older ones showed a major need for improvement.

One week down, 623 to go.
